About X-Olig

Pronounced [x-oh-lig]

and short for Exo-ligament

Xo-Lig was invented by an athlete for athletes. In the spring of my sophomore year, I first hyperextended my knee. Since I was a promising athlete, the school asked a local orthopedic supplier to construct a knee brace for me. It was a simple padded hinge with molded custom plastic leg holsters plus a little Velcro to hold it all together. It did offer some stability, but it was very cumbersome, and it cut into the back of my thigh every day. It was painful. I took it off halfway through my senior year and was able to run again and make touchdowns like I had before all this.

I was offered a scholarship to play college football. I continue to heavy tape the knee, but I did hyperextend it a few more times, so the college trainer bought expensive tape and started taping my knee in a new way. This tape was heavier and would stretch a bit than what I was used to. It worked and I could run as fast as before. The only drawback was I had to shave my leg from shin to mid-thigh.

The trainer retired after two and a half years and got permission from the new trainer to continue wrapping my knee like this.

After college I received a professional contract with the stipulation that my right knee would need a waiver stating that if I hurt my knee, they would fix it but may not pay the remainder of my contract. I didn't like it but went ahead and signed the contract. When I was in training camp, I also explained to the trainer that I would be the one taping my knee at every practice. He agreed. So, I was able to play with zero problems if I taped my knee in this manner.

XoLig Today

About ten years ago I started pursuing my idea to create a knee device made from silicon rubber that was formed in the same manner as the stretchable X that had kept my knee together during my football years.

After a lot of testing and retesting, I developed the XoLig as it is today. I have obtained patents, employed rights and 3rd parties be able to bring it to the North American market.

While it is developed for the serious athlete, it is perfect for anyone who wants to stay in the game.
